Combine creativity with writing, crafting a poem in the form called Zeno which follows a mathematical sequence for syllable count. A zine is a foldable paper booklet that gives students an opportunity to publish and share their writing. Single Session

VA-064 Dancing with a Paintbrush (2-6)
Listen to a variety of music and feel the mood by dancing with a paintbrush. Each image will become inspiration for writing by leading students to word choice and metaphor. Single Session
VA-071 Construction Paper Portrait (3-12)
Students will have a choice between creating an original portrait of themselves or an original character out of construction paper. They will be taught the fundamentals of using basic shapes to create the features needed. Single Session
VA-072 How to Draw a Face (5-12)
Students will learn how to draw a face using basic shapes. They will be introduced to beginner drawing techniques and learn how to highlight features using shading methods (stippling method, hatching/crosshatching). Single Session
LA-006 Were You There? Transforming Bography into Poetry (5-8)
Based on my book “Were You There? A biography of Emma Wakefield Paillet, students will engage with Black History through biography. Using found poetry, students will create a unique poem that can be a part of a larger biography project or a stand alone project.
CM-021 Zydeco Rhythms: Moving Through Louisiana’s Culture (K-5)
Clap, stomp, and dance along! Students will learn Zydeco’s fun steps while hearing the lively sounds of accordion and washboard that make Louisiana music so special. Adaptable for Special Education
VA-039 100 Colors (K-5)
Students will explore color theory and experimentation by mixing 100 different hues using primary colors.
VA-040 Prairie Collage: Building Together (6-12)
Students will reflect on themes of biodiversity, interdependence, and stewardship of the Earth.
VA-041 Nature Print Making with Styrofoam (3-12)
Students will learn the basics of printmaking using styrofoam to create textured leaf prints.
VA-042 Jean-Michel Basquiat Dinosaurs (3-8)
Inspired by the bold energy of Jean-Michel Basquiat, students will create expressive dinosaur artworks using oil pastels and watercolor.
