STUDENT FILM SHOWCASE
Lafayette Parish
Inspiring the Next Generation of Filmmakers
Acadiana’s budding filmmakers in grades 6-12 are invited to share their creative vision in Southern Screen’s Student Film Showcase, presented in partnership with Acadiana Center for the Arts and Lafayette Parish School System.
This is a wonderful chance to inspire students to explore storytelling through film, connect to cultural themes, and apply their creative and technical skills. Each submission offers an opportunity to have their work showcased in a meaningful community event.
IMPORTANT DATES
Deadline to submit all forms & videos: October 1, 2026 at 5:00pm
Finalists will be screened at Southern Screen Festival at Acadiana Center for the Arts November 19-22, 2026.
2026 Theme:
The American Dream
Life. Liberty. The pursuit of happiness.
Opportunity earned through sacrifice, risk, and determination.
White picket fences. Open highways. Startup founders. Content creators. Building something better than what came before.
For generations, the American Dream has represented possibility — the belief that a better future can be created through vision and hard work. Yet its meaning continues to evolve. As we mark 250 years since the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence, create a short film that explores what the American Dream looks like — or feels like — in this moment.
