After reading examples of haiku poetry and a brief discussion on the elements of a haiku poem, students will write their own haiku poems and create an illustration to accompany their poem.

LA-004 Zydeco is Live in Louisiana (K-5)
Author Theresa Singleton will read her book, Zydeco Zoom, to students and discuss Zydeco music, musicians and important Zydeco instruments. Students will be taught the “Zoom dance” too!
LA-005 Loving My Louisiana (K-3)
Author Theresa Singleton will share two of her books with unique accompanying songs and movement: Grandfather Lee and the Bees, and Pierre’s Empty Pouch.
M-005 The Flute and Drawing (PK-8)
Students will listen to the music of the flute and use drawing to express the imagined stories and moods from the sounds heard.
CM-014 Drop the B.E.A.T (Bullying Ends After Talking) (K-6)
The overall theme is “Bullying Ends After Talking,” allowing students to express their personal experiences, concerns, and maybe even some advice for their fellow peers while they are guided and entertained along the way.
