The Yarn Lab is an entry-level crochet program designed to introduce students to the art of crochet while building focus, patience, and creativity. Students of all ages enjoy drawing with sidewalk chalk. This session will celebrate the season with short poetry forms, such as haiku, and groups will decorate the school’s concrete spaces with drawing and poetry.
Students will paint and color a precut alligator form and glue onto construction paper and we will talk about fascinating facts about this very large reptile that lives in our Louisiana Swamps. Single Session

In this session, students will be introduced to abstract painting in a free spirited style of artistic expression using acrylic paint, markers, oils pastels and pencils. Single Session
Students will have a choice between creating an original portrait of themselves or an original character out of construction paper. They will be taught the fundamentals of using basic shapes to create the features needed. Single Session
Students will learn how to draw a face using basic shapes. They will be introduced to beginner drawing techniques and learn how to highlight features using shading methods (stippling method, hatching/crosshatching). Single Session
Combine creativity with writing, crafting a poem in the form called Zeno which follows a mathematical sequence for syllable count. A zine is a foldable paper booklet that gives students an opportunity to publish and share their writing. Single Session
