Students of all ages enjoy drawing with sidewalk chalk. This session will celebrate the season with short poetry forms, such as haiku, and groups will decorate the school’s concrete spaces with drawing and poetry.

LA-006 Were You There? Transforming Bography into Poetry (5-8)
Based on my book “Were You There? A biography of Emma Wakefield Paillet, students will engage with Black History through biography. Using found poetry, students will create a unique poem that can be a part of a larger biography project or a stand alone project.
VA-063 Zeno Zines (4-8)
Combine creativity with writing, crafting a poem in the form called Zeno which follows a mathematical sequence for syllable count. A zine is a foldable paper booklet that gives students an opportunity to publish and share their writing. Single Session
VA-064 Dancing with a Paintbrush (2-6)
Listen to a variety of music and feel the mood by dancing with a paintbrush. Each image will become inspiration for writing by leading students to word choice and metaphor. Single Session
