STUDENT FILM SHOWCASE

Lafayette Parish

Inspiring the Next Generation of Filmmakers

Acadiana’s budding filmmakers in grades 6-12 are invited to share their creative vision in Southern Screen’s Student Film Showcase, presented in partnership with Acadiana Center for the Arts and Lafayette Parish School System.

This is a wonderful chance to inspire students to explore storytelling through film, connect to cultural themes, and apply their creative and technical skills. Each submission offers an opportunity to have their work showcased in a meaningful community event.

IMPORTANT DATES

Deadline to submit all forms & videos: October 3, 2025 at 5:00pm

Finalists will be screened at Southern Screen Festival at Acadiana Center for the Arts November 13–16, 2025

2025 Theme:

MUSIC AS CULTURAL IDENTITY

Music reveals where we come from, shapes who we are, and reflects what we value. This year, Southern Screen will showcase student films that explore how music expresses, shapes, and preserves our culture. Create a film that highlights how music brings people together, defines identity,  and preserves traditions and in your local community.

All info and a short video describing the project can also be found through southernscreen.org/student-film-showcase.
