Students will learn about the artist, Vincent van Gogh, discuss one of his famous pieces of artwork and create their own masterpieces in the artist’s style.

In this lesson, students will create their own renditions of the northern lights.

In this session, we’ll create a butterfly using several art techniques. We’ll also discuss animal life cycles, migration and symmetry.
VA-007 Mardi Gras Chicken Run (PK-12)
In this lesson, students will have the opportunity to learn fun facts about Mardi Gras while learning how to paint a chicken running in a chicken run.
VA-022 Patriotism: Class Flags (K-2)
Students will create a class flag using the basic elements of line, pattern and repetition.
VA-023 Patriotism: Historical Events (9-12)
Students will design a piece of art that incorporates art composition with American historical events or symbols.
VA-024 Rodrigue’s Blue Dog (3-8)
In this session, we’ll learn about the artist and create our own masterpiece in the artist’s unique style.
VA-055 Haiku (3-12)
After reading examples of haiku poetry and a brief discussion on the elements of a haiku poem, students will write their own haiku poems and create an illustration to accompany their poem.
VA-010 Cityscapes (3-8)
This project teaches about warm and cool colors and gives lots of practice in measurement.
VA-011 Clementine Hunter Zinnias (Grades 3-12)
Louisiana artist, Clementine Hunter, was a self-taught black folk artist known for artwork depicting plantation life in the early 20th Century.
