In this workshop, students will design and construct their own handmade journals using recycled and found materials, then bring those pages to life with collage, writing, drawing, and mixed media techniques.

VA-052 Things that Make Us Want to Scream Emotions in Art (3-12)
After exploring emotionally-charged artwork and poetry created by various artists and authors, students will create their own artwork or writing featuring images or words based on things (not people) that make them emotional.
VA-053 Adjective, Adjective, Noun (3-8)
Each student will receive two adjectives and a noun, randomly pulled from a hat. They will then be encouraged to create an illustration or write a story
VA-055 Haiku (3-12)
After reading examples of haiku poetry and a brief discussion on the elements of a haiku poem, students will write their own haiku poems and create an illustration to accompany their poem.

VA-049 Painting a Sunset Swamp Scene (1-12)
During this session, the students will learn blending techniques while painting a simple swamp scene from lake Martin.
VA-050 Still Life in graphite (1-12)
The students will explore using the value scale and shading to create depth in a still life drawing.
VA-051 Perspective Study (2-12)
During this session, the students will learn about using perspective in landscape drawing.
