Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic competition for high school students across the country.
This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
This program is open to all high school-aged students in the 8-parish region of Acadiana: Acadia Parish, Evangeline Parish, Iberia Parish, Lafayette Parish, St. Landry Parish, St. Martin Parish, St. Mary Parish, & Vermilion Parish
Important Dates

- Hold a school or class competition by winter break. Deadline to for student names in Regional Competition: December 19, 2025
- Regional Competition at AcA: Saturday, January 10, 2026
- State Competition: Thursday, February 26th | Baton Rouge, LA
- National Competition: April 27-29, 2026 | Washington, D.C.
