Emotions can be big, intense, and overwhelming—but they are also the ultimate fuel for creative expression. This interdisciplinary workshop guides students to explore how famous artists and authors translate powerful feelings into groundbreaking work. Rather than just copying a masterpiece, students learn to tap into their own emotional storehouses to create original visual art or poetry. Discover how creators use color, imagery, and word choice to convey deep feelings, draft original writing or visual art inspired by their own personal experiences and emotions, and practice constructive, empowering outlets for processing complex feelings through hands-on creative work. This session seamlessly bridges ELA and Visual Art standards while driving core Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). It gives students a meaningful, safe space to build self-expression and leave with a deeply personal portfolio piece.
