TEACHING ARTIST SESSION

VA-059 The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (3-5)

Dr. King fought for equality and justice for all people. He believed in peaceful ways to make a change. This lesson will focus on the leadership and the fight for civil rights in the United States. Students will be taught to draw the face of MLK, including his head, eyes, nose, mouth, and mustache, as well as adding coloring.

Tony LeDay

Toynette LeDay recently retired from the Lafayette Parish School System where she taught at the elementary level for over 30 years. She is a proud graduate of Abbeville High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She has always had a passion for the arts, and she continues to be inspired by her students and other artists. She has preserved her memories for 26 years through scrapbooking by combining photos, journaling and creative embellishments to document important moments and everyday life. Toynette loves to travel and often seeks out museums and art exhibits wherever she goes.
