VA-002 Wall Works: Mural Lab (6-12)

Students go from sketch to wall in just three sessions! Working as a team, they’ll develop a concept inspired by poetry, writing, or events, then scale it up using math, grids, and safe equipment. Includes color theory, prep, and paint techniques. Murals can be permanent or temporary.

Jess Newton is a Louisiana-based muralist and teaching artist committed to creative placemaking, arts education, and community wellness. Her award-winning public art practice blends storytelling, cultural identity, and bold visual design, with commissions through ACA ArtSpark (2014, 2024), local tourism, and city beautification programs. Jess leads workshops for schools, libraries, and STEAM initiatives, supporting both student engagement and educator training. With a background in Architecture and Fine Arts, she is passionate about mentoring emerging artists and building strong creative networks in small communities.
